THE WRITING HERE

The writing on this site will be both personal and professional, as I work to grow the fierce community work through the nonprofit Shift the Country. Here’s a longer post on the intentions here.

It will be background stories and personal tales and vignettes and weird moments and sometimes very complex analyses on various topics. Humans are complicated. I intend to bring some of my own complications here.

That’s what we need to be doing: telling our stories. Lighting up the chaos.

Fellow Substack author Linda Caroll writes, “Philip Pullman said after food, shelter and companionship, stories are what we need most in the world.” Seems right to me.

We crave stories. Our culture embraces and invents and shares and devours them.

So. Here are some of mine. Hopefully you are finding ways to get yours out, too. Share them through this channel in Substack notes and on post comments and so on. We grow forward together.

Good luck. We’re in a tough era. We will need to work together to find ways through.

Light it up.

My takes on a country courting chaos, from a former park ranger and big disaster response person. I'm focused on how we can find our way through, like with fierce community work for this fast-evolving era. And with all the light - from sparks to stars.
